Agios Nikolaos, 10 km from the village of Elounda, Crete, is a lively small town with its own harbor serving major cruise lines and a beautiful marina where various types of yachts safely dock. You can find a variety of shops offering local goods, from herbs to the renowned Greek jewellery, along with cafés, restaurants, dancing clubs and beautiful beaches for swimming.
Connected to the harbour of Agios Nikolaos by a canal is the Voulismeni lagoon, a traditional shelter for small fishing vessels surrounded by lively cafes and taverns. Jacques Yves Cousteau tried to explore the bottom of the lake, which is believed to be connected with Santorini Island!
